Word of the Year

Over the years, God has used specific words to highlight areas where I needed to grow. God is so gracious that He doesn’t expect us to get it all together at once. He tends to address our issues according to where we currently are and also to prepare us for the season to come. Some of the words He has given me over the years were not exciting for me to walk out. Words like “Suffering” and “Perseverance”, for example, were not particular favorites of mine originally. Others, I easily embraced: words like “Joy”, “Prayer” and “Kindness”. No matter the word given, I am always aware that He knows what challenges and triumphs are on the horizon, and He uses the given “word” to strengthen me for the journey.

After spending much time listening and reflecting,

I’ve discovered my word for 2020….

The following is a beginning list of the areas in which I want to extend generosity:

Now it’s your turn! I invite you to spend some time reflecting on a word that you can take with you throughout the year that will challenge you, encourage you, and push you toward being the woman you are meant to be! Are you prepared to listen for what God may be saying to you?

  1. What have you been saying a lot lately, what “word” have you heard yourself repeating in various settings?

  2. What is the Lord saying in your devotional time. Is there a word that keeps attracting your attention.

  3. Where have you been uncomfortable? Is there something particularly troublesome for you? Is there a need for break-through in some area of your life?

Pray. Ask The Holy Spirit to lead you to a word that will help guide you through your year. If you already know your Word for 2020, share it with your sisters below in the comments… you never know how your word could encourage someone else on their journey!
