Spring Forward...

It’s time to move the clocks one hour forward!

Who cares that we lose an hour of sleep? I sure don’t! For many this exercise of shifting time is just a date on the calendar. To me it represents the promise of change. Spring is almost here. I am ready for “Spring Forward''.  Listening to singing birds, and children playing outside my window is the signal that we are moving into a new season.

The weariness that has set into our souls gets broken up as we take long walks on beautiful wooded trails. Instead of days running together creating boredom and Deja vu, we begin to anticipate new possibilities for each day because the sun is shining.  We need light to shine amidst the darkness of pandemic, the upheaval of racial injustice and political divisiveness.

In the midst of these uncertain times, it is important we let nature speak to us and remind us of the power of God to make all things new. As sure as tulips break through grounds that were once blanketed with snow, so shall fresh vision and hope break through the darkness.

The one sitting on the throne said,

“I am making everything new.”

He said, “Write this: ‘These words are faithful and true.’ ”

Revelations 21:5

So my friends, in light of this comforting word, I shall pack up my fuzzy sweaters and oversized warm sweatpants in exchange for comfy tee shirts, shorts and walking shoes; walking out each new spring day in hope and anticipation of what is to come.
